Our future

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is advancing our strategic plan to make sure we continue to deliver the award-winning healthcare our patients expect today, tomorrow and into the future.

Expanding care with our 2030 Strategic Plan for future generations

This new strategic plan is a bold roadmap for the Lowcountry’s largest healthcare system for adults. It marked a significant milestone since the Medical Society of South Carolina and Bon Secours Mercy Health announced its joint venture to share ownership of Roper St. Francis Healthcare in late 2019.

Expansion projects

Future Roper hospital

In North Charleston, we’re building the future Roper Hospital campus, our largest project yet. This $1.2 billion, full-service hospital will expand access to care for Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties with a 24-hour emergency room, outpatient services and specialty care. Construction is expected to be completed in mid-2029.

To meet the growing demand in Mount Pleasant, we’re constructing a three-story Health Pavilion at 512 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., at the intersection of Mathis Ferry Road near the Ravenel Bridge. This facility will offer a variety of healthcare services and is expected to open by the end of 2027.

Sawmill building

The Health Pavilion at Sawmill Centre is a modern hub for outpatient care in Summerville’s growing Sawmill community. This newly opened facility offers outpatient care, including imaging, lab services and a 24/7 free-standing emergency department. But we’re not done yet! We’re building an additional medical office building at Sawmill, set to open later this year. The medical office building will offer orthopedic, ObGyn and brain and spine care, making our care options in Sawmill even more comprehensive.
