The closet airport to our hospital system is the Charleston International Airport (CHS). CHS is located in North Charleston and is about 30 minutes from the downtown area. The airport is ADA compliant and accessible for people with disabilities. There are two areas outside at each end of the terminal building designated for Service Animal Relief. Two nursing suites are also available at the airport for nursing mothers.

Billing for out-of-state travelers

Billing for patients from out of state involves following different rules depending on your insurance coverage. Medicaid generally requires providers to be enrolled in the patient’s home state, while private insurance often permits out-of-network billing—though this can result in higher out-of-pocket costs. We adhere to the No Surprise Act, which helps shield patients from unexpected charges for emergency care and certain non-emergency services. Check with your doctor about your coverage prior to traveling for care.
