 Newsweek and Statista named Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Mount Pleasant Hospital to its list of America's Best Hospitals for Specialized Care 2026. Roper Hospital was recognized in five specialties: cancer, cardiac, endocrine, neurological and orthopedic care.

 Berkeley Hospital's adult intensive care unit recently was honored by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Silver-Level Beacon Award for Excellence. Forbes names Roper St. Francis Healthcare one of best employers for Healthcare Professionals - September 2025
Roper St. Francis Healthcare has been named to Forbes’ inaugural list of America’s Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals 2025. Forbes used an independent survey of more than 17,000 U.S. employees at healthcare or social welfare providers with at least 1,000 workers.

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital named No. 2 on list of Top 75 bariatric surgery programs in country - August 2025
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital has ranked second on a magazine's listing of top bariatric surgery programs in the country. Money’s Best Hospitals for Bariatric Surgery 2025 is a prestigious honor recognizing hospitals that deliver safe, effective weight-loss procedures through skilled bariatric surgeons and specialists. Only 75 hospitals nationwide made the list. Money gave the hospital's program an overall A+. 
 
Roper Rehabilitation Hospital joins Newsweek’s America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2025 - August 2025 
Roper Rehabilitation Hospital has been featured among Newsweek’s America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers 2025, claiming the top spot among rehab facilities in South Carolina. The rankings were published online Aug. 20 and appeared in Newsweek’s print edition Sept. 5. 
 
Roper St. Francis Home Health achieves 2024 SHP Best Superior Performer Patient Experience Award - July 2025 
Roper St. Francis Home Health has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Superior Performer” for achieving an overall patient experience score that ranked in the top 20 percent of all eligible SHP clients for the 2024 calendar year. The annual SHP Best™ award program aims to acknowledge home health agencies that consistently provide high quality service to their patients. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals rank as U.S. News high performers - July 2025 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals were ranked by the U.S. News & World Report as high performers in multiple specialty areas. The U.S. News Best Hospitals 2025-2026 list placed Roper Rehabilitation Hospital at No. 39 nationally. Roper Rehab is the only South Carolina rehab hospital to receive a ranking, putting us a No. 1 in the state. 
 
Three Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals earn Healthgrades recognition for outstanding patient experience - July 2025 
Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital have earned the Healthgrades 2025 Outstanding Patient Experience Award — an honor given to just seven hospitals in South Carolina and 377 nationwide. Healthgrades evaluates hospitals based on 10 key measures from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper Hospital, Mount Pleasant Hospital honored as Blue Distinction Centers - July 2025 
Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital have been recognized by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina with designation as Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) for various specialties, such as spine surgery and knee and hip replacement. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals receive top marks for social responsibility - June 2025 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper Hospital and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital all received “A” grades from the Lown Institute Hospitals Index for social responsibility, which were released on June 24. The three hospitals rank among the top 12 in the state for their performance across health equity, value and outcomes. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare honored by Press Ganey for Serious Safety Event Rate Reduction - May 2025 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare has been recognized by Press Ganey as a 2024 Human Experience Achievement Award winner for Serious Safety Event Rate Reduction. Only 23 facilities nationwide were recognized this year for their improvements and corresponding strong scores in safety culture perception. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis, Roper Hospital named to America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care 2025 list - May 2025 
Newsweek and Statista named Roper Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital to its list of America’s Best Hospitals for Specialized Care 2025. The recognitions for Roper St. Francis Healthcare included Best Cancer Care, Best Endocrine Care and Best Neurological Care for Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Best Orthopedic Care for Roper Hospital.

Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital makes Premier 100 Top Hospitals list — April 2025  
Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital landed on the Premier 100 Top Hospitals list, marking a significant accomplishment in providing high-quality care to the community. It was the only hospital in the Charleston area to be recognized by Premier, which uses objective, quantitative analysis of publicly available data for its rankings. 
 
Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital named to Newsweek World's Best Hospitals 2025 list — February 2025  
Roper Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital were named to Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals for the seventh year in a row. The ranking lists the best hospitals in 30 countries based on multiple comparability factors, such as standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability.

Roper St. Francis Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Loss has once again achieved national reaccreditation, maintaining the program’s designation as a Comprehensive Center with Obesity Medicine Qualifications from the American College of Surgeons, awarded in conjunction with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). 

Three Top General Hospital Awards from The Leapfrog Group — December 2024  
Three Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals — Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital — were named Top General Hospitals by The Leapfrog Group, one of the most respected healthcare quality rating organizations in the nation, for the fall 2024 grading period.  
 
SCHA’s 2024 Drive to Zero Harm Leadership Award — December 2024  
The South Carolina Hospital Association announced that Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s Marian Savage, vice president of quality and patient experience, won the 2024 Drive to Zero Harm Leadership Award for demonstrating a track record of excellence in creating sustainable cultures of safety.  
 
2025 Healthgrades honors for all Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals — December 2024  
Healthgrades released an overview of all 2025 honors for all Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals, including many “Best Hospitals” honors for cardiac care, gastrointestinal care and more. Roper Hospital earned its first Pathway to Excellence designation, marking a significant milestone for Roper St. Francis Healthcare as all four of its hospitals now hold American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) recognitions.  
 
Community Health Worker Program of the Year Award — November 2024  
Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s community health department was honored with the Community Health Worker Program of the Year Award from the South Carolina Health Worker Association.  
 
Becker’s recognizes Roper St. Francis Healthcare among Top 100 orthopedic programs in US — November 2024  
Becker’s Hospital Review named Roper St. Francis Healthcare to its list of “100 hospitals and health systems with great orthopedic programs,” recognizing the system as “devoted to delivering comprehensive, compassionate care for patients experiencing musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.”  
 
2024 Zero Harm Awards — November 2024  
All four hospitals earned a combined seven awards for maintaining zero hospital-acquired infections, along with additional accolades for prioritizing workplace violence prevention and reducing health disparities.

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital teammates have become the first in the state to achieve Magnet redesignation four consecutive times, this time with the prestigious recognition of Magnet with Distinction. 
 
Forbes names Roper St. Francis Healthcare one of best employers in SC – September 2024 
The Roper St. Francis Healthcare was ranked seventh among South Carolina employers and was the top-ranked organization headquartered in the Palmetto State to make the Forbes’ Best-In-State Employers 2024 list. RSFH was the only healthcare system to land in the Top 10. 
 
2024 CMS Star Ratings — August 2024  
All four hospitals achieved high marks for overall hospital performance, according to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital earned five out of five stars. Roper Hospital and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital both earned four stars.

Becker’s Healthcare named the system to its 2024 list of 150+ top places to work in healthcare. The Becker’s Healthcare listing stated that organizations on its Top 150+ list offer resources necessary for work-life balance, along with opportunities for community involvement, and stress social responsibility.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare has been named among America’s Best Large Employers, according to Forbes. The not-for-profit organization was ranked 60 out of 600 U.S. employers to make the list and is the only healthcare system listed among the ranks from South Carolina. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital designated as a Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care – January 2024 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital both have been honored as Blue Distinction Centers for Maternity Care for safely and effectively demonstrating expertise in delivering quality specialty care. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated hospitals that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community.

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital named Leapfrog ‘Top Hospital’ for third year – December 2023
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital has been recognized as a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group – the only facility in the Charleston region and one of only two in South Carolina to receive the honor for achievements in patient safety and quality.

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital named to America’s Best-In-State Hospitals list for 2024 – October 2023 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was named to the inaugural list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2024. The ranking by Newsweek and Statista was created to identify the top hospitals at the state level. Hospitals from all American states were eligible for the ranking and included in the nationwide survey. 
 
Roper Hospital a top facility for critical care – October 2023 
Roper Hospital was named among the top facilities for critical care, according to Healthgrades. Healthgrades evaluated hospitals for superior clinical outcomes in treating pulmonary embolism, respiratory system failure, sepsis and diabetic emergencies. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital honored as World’s Best Smart Hospitals – September 2023 
Newsweek recognized Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital as one of the World’s Best Smart Hospitals – the only hospital in South Carolina to receive the distinction. As a partnership between Newsweek and Statista, the 2024 list honored 330 hospitals worldwide that are leading the field in smart technologies and reinforcing their reputations as providers of high-quality medical treatment. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare achieves double distinction as a great American employer – September 2023 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare has achieved two distinguishing designations, solidifying its status as both a Great Place to Work and one of America’s Best Employers. The healthcare system ranked No. 2 on the America’s Best Employers list for South Carolina for the second year in a row, according to 2023 results released by Forbes magazine. Also the first healthcare system in South Carolina to be certified by Great Place To Work, a prestigious designation based entirely on what teammates said about their working experience.

Roper Rehabilitation Hospital has been honored by Newsweek as one of the America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers in 2023 by Newsweek. Roper Rehabilitation Hospital ranked No. 1 in the Charleston area and No. 2 out of seven recognized facilities in South Carolina. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital named South Carolina’s most socially responsible hospital – July 2023 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was recognized as the most socially responsible hospital in South Carolina by the Lown Institute’s Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility. The Lown Institute is a nonpartisan healthcare think tank. Annually, it evaluates over 3,600 U.S. hospitals using more than 50 metrics that encompass equity, value of care and patient outcomes. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital recongnized as one of America’s Best Cancer Hospitals – July 2023 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was recognized as one of America’s Best Cancer Hospitals in 2023, according to Newsweek Magazine & Statista. The America’s Best Cancer Hospitals ranking was created to provide patients and family members with a comprehensive resource for informed decision making. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals win Get With The Guidelines awards – July 2023 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s hospitals were awarded Get With The Guidelines awards for meeting a high percentage of compliance for stroke quality measures. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper Hospital, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital each received the American Heart Association’s Get with the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus award. The recognition signifies that each hospital complied in seven areas of of stroke care for more than 24 consecutive months. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital named among “Great Hospitals in America” – June 2023 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital has been named one of the “Great Hospitals in America” by Becker’s Hospital Review. It’s the only hospital in South Carolina to be honored among the 83 facilities on the list. Becker’s Hospital Review describes BSSF by saying, “The Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital comprises numerous Centers of Excellence, including neuro-spine, stroke and orthopedics, as well as the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center. The 190-bed facility also provides a distinguished Magnet-certified nursing program. In 2023, the hospital was recognized by Newsweek as one of the World’s Best Hospitals"

Three Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals recognized among best in country – November 2022 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital have received “A” Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group for protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors. This is the sixth consecutive “A” for Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, the fourth consecutive “A” for Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital, and the first “A” for Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital. Roper Hospital earned a B. 
 
Roper Hospital’s Cardiac Care earns Distinction Center + designation – October 2022 
Roper Hospital has been named a a Blue Distinction Center+ for cardiac care, which is a recognition of its expertise and efficiency in the delivery of that care. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare ranks as No. 2 employer by Forbes – August 2022 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare ranked No. 2 on the America’s Best Employers list for South Carolina, according to results released by Forbes magazine. The list was created by surveying 70,000 Americans who worked for companies with at least 500 employees. The list highlights the 1,382 employers receiving the most recommendations. 
 
Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital maintains five-star rating for overall performance – August 2022 
For the second consecutive year, Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital is the only acute care hospital in the Lowcountry to earn the highest possible rating for overall performance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital earned five stars in the Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. It was one of only six hospitals statewide to earn five stars and among just 429 nationwide to do so. 
 
Roper St. Francis Hospice and Home Health receive national patient satisfaction honors – August 2022 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare Hospice and Home Health programs have been honored for their high patient satisfaction scores in 2021. Both Home Health and Hospice were recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs as “Superior Performers” for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 20 percent nationally. 
 
Roper Hospital honored as high performing hospital by US News & World Report – July 2022 
Roper Hospital rose to the No. 2 ranked hospital in South Carolina by U.S. News & World Report in its 2022-2023 Best Hospital rankings. In addition, Roper Hospital’s rehabilitation specialty ranked among the nation’s best at No. 43, and the hospital earned a High Performing rating for twelve procedures and conditions.

Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital received the highest grades from Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which honors hospitals across the country for protecting patients from preventable harm or error.

Roper St. Francis Bariatric Surgery and Medical Weight Loss has earned national reaccreditation for its exemplary surgical and non-surgical treatment options. The accreditation is awarded in conjunction with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and Roper St. Francis Healthcare was one of the first two programs in the country to earn the new certification.

Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital has been voted “Best Hospital” by Mount Pleasant Magazine. Nearly 60,000 votes were cast by readers in six categories with hundreds winning titles.

Three Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals recognized among best in country – December 2021
The only three South Carolina hospitals to earn the prestigious 2021 Leapfrog Top Hospital Award in the general hospital category belong to Roper St. Francis Healthcare. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital were among just 46 nationally to be honored in the general hospital category and among 149 total to receive Top Hospital Award recognition.

Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital earn Zero Harm Award – November 2021 
Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital are among several hospitals statewide to receive a Zero Harm Award. To earn a Certified Zero Harm Award, hospitals must experience no preventable hospital-acquired infections of a specific nature over an extended period of time.

Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital received “A” grades in the fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing achievements protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections. Roper Hospital earned a B, and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital was not rated yet. Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital were awarded “A” grades when Leapfrog updated grades for fall 2021. 
 
Spark! Awards by Charleston American Marketing Association – October 2021 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare has been named the winner of two categories in the annual Spark! Awards. The awards are the premier marketing event of the Lowcountry recognizing creative and marketing excellence. After receiving hundreds of submissions in 20 categories, fellow AMA chapter, AMA Tahoe, judged and casted their votes for finalists and winners. Roper St. Francis Marketing Department won for best corporate blog and best corporate identity. 
 
Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital receives Pathway to Excellence Award – October 2021 
For the third time, Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital has been honored with the Pathway to Excellence Award, which is given to organizations deemed the best places to work for nurses with high nurse satisfaction and retention. Organizations must meet 12 practice standards essential to an ideal nursing practice environment to qualify for the award. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare ranks in Top 25 and earns “A” for being socially responsible – September 2021 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare made a national Top 25 list and earned an “A” grade for being socially responsible when it comes to civic duties, patient outcomes and value of care. Lown Institute, a nonpartisan healthcare think tank, compiled the nationwide ranking of 311 hospital systems and 3,282 hospitals and ranked Roper St. Francis Healthcare as No. 24 in the hospital systems rankings. Roper St. Francis Healthcare ranked No. 1 in South Carolina in the hospital systems category and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital earned an A grade and was ranked No. 3 in the state in the individual hospital rankings.

The recognition program from Modern Healthcare honors workplaces throughout the industry that empower employees to provide patients and customers with the best possible care, products and services. Roper St. Francis Healthcare is the only site in South Carolina on this year’s list. Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s hospitals were awarded Get With The Guidelines awards for meeting a high percentage of compliance for stroke quality measures. Roper Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital won the Gold Plus Award with Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll; Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital won the Gold Plus Award with Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll; and Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital won the Silver Plus Award with Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. 
 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare honored with Employer Choice Award – August 2021 
Roper St. Francis Healthcare was honored with the Employer Choice Award by Southeastern College in appreciation of our commitment to and partnership with the college. Roper St. Francis Healthcare began accepting the school’s student in October 2020 and has hired 70 percent of its externs. 
 
Roper Hospital honored as high performing hospital by US News & World Report – July 2021 
Roper Hospital was one of 531 hospitals to be identified as a Best Regional Hospital, which had to have six or more ratings of high performing in procedures/conditions and offer a full range of general medical and surgical services. The downtown hospital was considered high performing in eight procedures/conditions, including colon cancer surgery, lung cancer surgery, heart failure, aortic valve surgery, kidney failure, strokes, heart attacks and knee replacements. 
 
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital selected by Newsweek as one of the World’s Best Smart Hospitals – June 2021 
The list of hospitals announced on June 9 spans the globe and totals 250 hospitals. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was the only hospital in South Carolina to win the award. A total of 89 hospitals in the United States were selected. This award is given to hospitals that integrated new technologies such as telehealth services and remote monitoring and used real-time data to allocate resources where needed most.
