Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital has begun a major renovation of women's and neonatal services, including a full upgrade of our Mother-Baby Unit and a new Level III NICU. This expansion beings more comfortable spaces for families and allows more critically ill and premature newborns to be treated close to home, keeping moms and babies together during those crucial first days.
A more modern Mother-Baby Unit and NICU
The plan for expansion
We're excited to bring an even better experience to families that choose to deliver at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. Our plans for expansion include:
- 22 larger, more comfortable patient rooms in our Mother-Baby Unit
- Enhanced amenities for families and teammates
- A seamless look and feel with our recently renovated Labor & Delivery Unit
- Upgraded Level III NICU capable of caring for babies born at 26 weeks gestation or later
- Increased NICU capacity from 11 to 20 beds
- ️ Private NICU rooms for family-centered care
Advanced care options keeping families together
The new facility will be a modern care hub designed to enhance the mother-baby experience and support Level III neonatal intensive care services. Key features include:
- A modernized Mother-Baby Unit, with larger rooms and environments aligned with our Labor and Delivery Unit
- An expanded Level III NICU to allow care for more critically ill and premature infants close to home
- Enhanced family-centered care, keeping loved ones close during crucial early days of life
- Greater coordination among obstetric, maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal specialists
What's happening at the site
Construction began on our expanded newborn care services in summer of 2026 and is slated for completion in early 2027. These enhancements will not disrupt the high-quality care we already provide to women, infants and children at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.
Our construction partners are currently hard at work installing new utilities, including plumbing and electrical. Get a sneak peak of our progress below.
