Barton Malow | Edifice, the construction joint venture that’s building Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s future Roper Hospital campus in North Charleston, recently gathered on the site of the rising new hospital to recommit to safety throughout the course of the years-long project.
Barton Malow | Edifice signed the South Carolina OSHA Construction Cooperative Partnership, a program that has a track record of lowering safety incident rates and ensuring that everyone who comes to work goes home the same way.
The S.C. Occupational Safety and Health Administration maintains no more than five active partnerships statewide at any time, selecting only organizations with a proven, genuine commitment to safety.
Roper St. Francis Healthcare is proud to partner with an organization like Barton Malow | Edifice that shares the same commitment to safety for its own employees and the people they serve.
“The future Roper Hospital will have a lasting impact on the Charleston community,” said Jordan King, Safety Manager with Barton Malow | Edifice. “The work we do to protect every person on that site — our own team members and all of our trade partners — will be just as important as the building itself.”
The construction teams started installing structural steel this spring, marking the vertical rise of the new hospital tower. The project is expected to be completed in 2029, allowing Roper Hospital to move from downtown Charleston to the conveniently located new site off Mall Drive, near interstates 26 and 526. Establishing the central location and world-class facility are advancing Roper St. Francis Healthcare 2030 Strategic Plan initiatives of optimizing the system’s footprint and addressing future clinical needs in the Lowcountry.
