Hospital quiet hours are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day. Specific departments may have different visitor requirements:

• ICU – visitors are required to check in at the nurses’ station to ensure their loved ones are able to receive visitors. We allow 2 guests at a time - guests may swap out as long as there are two in the room at a given time.
• Women’s Services – One care partner is encouraged to stay overnight. No children overnight. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to visit unless they are the child/sibling of the patient.
• Labor and Delivery – Three visitors/care partners are allowed at the bedside during labor and delivery. Switching out visitors is not permitted. No children under the age of 16 are allowed during labor and delivery.

The Roper St. Francis Cancer Center, located on the Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital campus, provides a comfortable infusion center as well as diagnostic, imaging and radiation therapy. Our support services program walks with you and your family throughout your cancer journey and connects you with a multidisciplinary team to support you – mind, body, and spirit.

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was named one of the “Great Hospitals in America” in 2023 by Becker’s Hospital Review, which noted the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center as a Center of Excellence. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital is recognized by the Blue Cross as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Maternity Care . Our spacious and comfortable birthing suites and labor/delivery units are private to you and are staffed by experienced doctors and labor and delivery nurses.

In addition, we have a Perinatal Center for high-risk pregnancy patients that may need additional special care and a fully-staffed NICU for premies.

We’ve received numerous centers of excellence certifications, including Joint Commission recognition for both our stroke and orthopedics programs. As an Advanced Primary Stroke Center, we provide the highest level of 24/7 care for complex stroke cases using cutting-edge technology and comprehensive treatment techniques. We also have top-tier, specialized care in orthopedics. As an orthopedic center of excellence, we provide hip and knee replacement surgery at the highest recognized standard of care.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare and MUSC Children’s Health partnered to open a 10,000-square-foot, 16-bed Children’s Unit at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in West Ashley.

The new unit provides family-centered, compassionate care, featuring 16 private rooms, a 1,000-square-foot playroom and specialized staff, including MUSC Children's Health pediatric hospitalists, Roper St. Francis Healthcare pediatric-trained nurses, pharmacists, child life experts and access to MUSC pediatric specialists via telehealth or in person, with seamless transfers when needed. Our emergency department received a pediatric-ready accreditation in preparation to help treat young patients.

Located inside Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Palmetto Market is a 24/7 café which offers handcrafted drinks, fresh food, grab-and-go items and a personalized experience tailored to our teammates, patients and visitors.

Our market features:

• A full-service Starbucks coffee shop and barista from 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
• 24/7 access to hot-and-fresh coffee and self-serve options
• Fresh, grab-and-go food meals, snacks and beverages
• Roper St. Francis Healthcare-branded gear, flowers and gifts
• Toiletry items, some over-the-counter medications and more
• Flowers and small gifts for patients

Our chapel on the first floor is open 24 hours a day for prayer and meditation. Special prayer gatherings and worship services, usually led by the hospital chaplain, are held in the chapel at various times throughout the week.

For Roman Catholics, Eucharistic ministers regularly bring communion to patients who have indicated that they are Catholic upon admission to the hospital. Catholic mass is also held every Tuesday of the month at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel.

For Jewish patients, Sabbath candles are available upon request.

Our wheelchair-friendly meditation garden, with labyrinth, is open to the public year-round and is dedicated in honor of The Sisters of Bon Secours and the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady of Mercy. Patients and visitors have access to the Meditation Garden 24/7.

Designed to fully engage the senses, the Meditation Garden takes you on an inward journey enhanced by fragrant lavender, rosemary and tea olive, by peaceful sounds of cascading water and wind chimes and the various textures of stone. The garden is comprised of four “sanctuaries” or smaller garden rooms. The sanctuaries include the Prayer Garden, the Camellia Garden, the Labyrinth and finally the Christ Statue Garden, which lies on an axial view from the narthex, framed by oaks, as if the cathedral’s “altar.” View a map of the garden here.
