Endocrine cancers are diagnosed using a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach that combines clinical evaluation with advanced testing.

These include:

Adrenal glands

Neuroendocrine tumors
Parathyroid glands
Pituitary gland
Thyroid gland

Treatment for endocrine cancers is personalized to each patient and designed to address both the tumor and any hormone-related symptoms it may cause. Your care team, which may include endocrinologists, surgeons and other endocrine oncology specialists, works together to create a plan tailored to your specific needs.

Treatment options may include:

Active surveillance (careful monitoring) for slow-growing tumors that may not need immediate treatment
Chemotherapy to target and destroy cancer cells throughout the body
External beam radiation therapy to precisely treat tumors with high-energy rays
Medications to control hormone levels or slow cancer growth
Radioisotope therapy to treat certain endocrine tumors
Radiation therapy to shrink or control tumors
Surgery to remove the tumor when possible
Targeted therapies that focus on cancer cells while limiting damage to healthy tissue
