Early detection is critical because it leads to higher survival rates. When we catch breast cancer early, it’s often less aggressive and more easily treatable. The five-year survival rate is over 99%.
Guidelines from the American College of Radiology and U.S. Preventive Services Task Force suggest most women start annual mammograms at age 40. However, if you have a family history of breast cancer, your doctor may recommend you start screening earlier.
We offer the full spectrum of breast health services, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, high risk screening, genetic testing, medical and surgical treatments for breast cancer and other breast conditions, and breast reconstruction.
If you find a lump or feel any change in your breast, make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible. Many lumps are noncancerous, but your doctor will need to examine you and order testing.
We offer comprehensive support services for our cancer patients through the Donna Fielding Cancer Wellness Institute ranging from psychosocial support, social work, charity care, nurse navigation, nutrition support, lymphedema therapy and an exercise program. Each cancer patient is assigned a navigator nurse to help assist with coordination of care and removing barriers to care.
