The Roper St. Francis Foundation plays a vital role in raising funds to support critical initiatives that advance the mission of Roper St. Francis Healthcare — a not-for-profit system committed to healing all people with compassion, faith and excellence. As the system embarks on one of the most significant transformations in its more than 170-year history, philanthropy is helping shape a bold future for healthcare in the Lowcountry.
Earlier this year, the Foundation launched Imagine: The Campaign for Roper St. Francis Healthcare — a $100 million comprehensive fundraising effort aligned with the Roper St. Francis Healthcare 2030 Strategic Plan. This once-in-a-generation initiative invites community members to help drive meaningful change through philanthropic investments in care, access and innovation.
Thanks to the generosity of early leadership donors, the campaign has gained strong momentum — with $82 million raised toward the $100 million goal. This remarkable early support reflects our community’s deep commitment to elevating healthcare in the region.
The Imagine campaign is built around three strategic pillars designed to transform healthcare delivery across our region:
Delivering outstanding, compassionate and innovative care
Philanthropy will support targeted investments in Cancer, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation, and Women’s Health — while helping attract and retain top clinical talent across the system.
Transforming health and wellness across our community
Support will expand the reach of the Roper St. Francis Greer Transitions Clinic, launch a Community Health Center of Excellence and Innovation, strengthen workforce development, grow mobile health efforts, and deepen care for underserved populations.
Building the hospitals, clinics and care centers of the future
This includes construction of the new 27-acre, 320-bed Roper Hospital Medical Campus in North Charleston — the most ambitious facilities project in system history. Additional capital investments include a specialty care site in Mount Pleasant, a new medical complex in Summerville, renovations and expansions across existing hospitals and a sustained presence of care on the Charleston peninsula.
The future Roper Hospital, the anchor of the campaign, represents a generational opportunity to reimagine healthcare. Designed with innovation, access and patient-centered care in mind, this landmark facility will stand as a symbol of progress for the entire region.
Philanthropy is essential to bringing this vision to life
Named gifts to support Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s infrastructure and facilities ensure we’re prepared to meet the needs of a growing Lowcountry community. Expanding, modernizing, and relocating care facilities is a crucial step toward building the healthcare system of tomorrow. A wide range of recognition opportunities are available at the new Roper Hospital Medical Campus — from patient rooms and nursing stations to the helipad.
Every gift makes a difference — from naming opportunities and annual gifts to tribute and memorial donations, legacy giving, and corporate partnerships. Additionally, our Honor Your Caregiver program offers patients and family members the opportunity to make a gift in recognition of a caregiver who made their care experience exceptional.
Donors are encouraged to explore the many ways to support the campaign and make a lasting impact on healthcare in our region.
