Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital earns five stars for overall performance

Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital is the only acute care hospital in the Lowcountry to earn the highest possible rating for overall performance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital earned five stars in the Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. It was one of only four hospitals statewide to earn five stars and among just 455 nationwide to do so.

“These ratings for Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital and our entire system demonstrate that we provide the best care to patients in the Lowcountry and across the country,” said Matt Desmond, vice president of acute care. “Our focus on quality, safety and patient experience continue to make us the market leader in healthcare. Our focus hasn’t changed through the pandemic, and we are grateful that the community chooses us in their time of need.”

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital earned four stars while Roper Hospital earned three. Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital was not rated.

CMS assigns star ratings to hospitals nationwide based on five quality measures, which are patient experience, mortality, readmission, timely and effective care, and safety of care. These are first ratings update since January 2020.
