Porter Gaud students paint Christmas cards for cancer patients

Led by student Gracie Coleman, Porter Gaud students painted and penned beautiful get well cards for cancer patients to encourage healing.

Coleman paints to honor her late father, Chisolm, who passed away from colon cancer in 2022. Since April this year, she has auctioned her artwork through her Instagram page, @harvestmoonchs, to raise money for the Roper St. Francis Foundation’s colon cancer awareness fund. Her works are inspired by her father’s favorite music and outdoor activities.

In June, she participated in a live painting session at Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant hospital to help raise awareness about colon cancer. Coleman donated her completed piece to the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center.

When delivering the cards, left a note that reads:

“These are the cards some Porter Gaud students made for RSFH patients undergoing radiation and chemo cancer treatments to hopefully spread some hope, joy and smiles to such inspiring and brave souls. I hope everyone at RSFH has a meaningful and loving Thanksgiving, please know how thankful the Charleston community is for all of RSFH’s volunteers and medical staff that are all working for such an important and beautiful cause.” – Gracie Coleman (Harvest Moon Artworks).
