Professional Nursing Clinical Ladder
The Professional Nursing Clinical Ladder is a performance-based career advancement program that provides a framework for developing, evaluating, promoting and rewarding RNs who provide direct patient care.
Nurses are hired as Clinical Nurse 1 or Clinical Nurse 2, depending on their nursing experience. Current Roper St. Francis Healthcare nurses who meet eligibility requirements have the opportunity to become a Clinical Nurse 3 or Clinical Nurse 4 (BSN required). An application must be submitted, which includes documentation of:
- Professional Specialty Certification
- Delivery of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) education topic
- Completion of an EBP or innovation project
- Active involvement in a Roper St. Francis Healthcare Committee or Shared Governance Council
- Additional activities
A differential is paid for the Clinical Nurse 3 and Clinical Nurse 4 levels. The requirements must be met annually to maintain these levels.
Roper St. Francis offers competitive pay and health benefits, nursing scholarships, a tuition reimbursement program and various student loan relief programs. And there are many additional opportunities to add to your base pay as a nurse leader.
If you want to have some variety in your work, our system-wide nurse float pool rewards clinical skill and commitment to flexibility. RNs may choose from several options designed to give personal choice of salary, schedules, and float requirements to best meet your lifestyle and career needs.
We know work-life balance is essential, so our nurses enjoy flexible schedules. Our work-only weekends (WOW) program allows nurses to earn extra pay while working three, twelve-hour weekend shifts in approved units.
