Employment Options

Mobile Resource Pool at Roper St. Francis

The Mobile Resource Pool is a system-wide nurse float pool for Berkeley, Bon Secours St. FrancisRoper and Mount Pleasant hospitals that rewards clinical skill and commitment to flexibility. RNs may choose from several options designed to give personal choice of salary, schedules and float requirements to best meet your lifestyle and career needs. RNs may also choose RN Mobile Resource Pool positions dedicated to one specialty (Emergency, Perioperative, etc.)

Mobile Resource Pool Position options include:

  • An hourly commitment of 24-72 hours per pay period
  • A minimum weekend commitment of one full weekend per 6 weeks 
  • Eligibility for shift, weekend and holiday differentials
  • Non-Benefited positions have minor holiday requirements and Benefited positions have major holiday requirements 

Nurse Residency Program

The Nurse Residency Program at Roper St. Francis Healthcare is a nine months program designed to support a newly licensed RN’s transition from student to professional nurse. The program is focused on leadership, quality, safety and professional development.

In addition, the Nurse Residency Program at Roper St. Francis Healthcare is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Practice Programs.

Any hospital-based RN hired with less than six months experience as an RN. Nurse Residents enter the program through two channels:

  • Unit-based: Newly licensed RN hired directly to a clinical unit.
  • Pipeline RNs: Newly licensed RN hired into an RN Pipeline position; will orient on two units over 12 weeks with additional training provided for specialty tracks. Once clinical orientation is complete, Pipeline RN’s will have the opportunity to learn first about available unit-based positions.

Professional Nursing Clinical Ladder

The Professional Nursing Clinical Ladder is a performance-based career advancement program that provides a framework for developing, evaluating, promoting and rewarding RNs who provide direct patient care.

Nurses are hired as a Clinical Nurse 1 or Clinical Nurse 2, depending on their nursing experience. Current Roper St. Francis Healthcare nurses who meet eligibility requirements have the opportunity to become a Clinical Nurse 3 or Clinical Nurse 4 (BSN required). An application must be submitted which includes documentation of:

  • Professional Specialty Certification
  • Delivery of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) education topic
  • Completion of an EBP or innovation project
  • Active involvement in a Roper St. Francis Healthcare Committee or Shared Governance Council
  • Additional activities

A differential is paid for the Clinical Nurse 3 and Clinical Nurse 4 levels. To maintain these levels, the requirements must be met annually.
