Two Roper St. Francis Healthcare patients test positive for COVID-19
CHARLESTON, SC – Roper St. Francis Healthcare has learned that two of our patients have tested positive for COVID-19.
One patient was evaluated in one of our Emergency Departments. Results of the patient’s test came back positive after the patient already had left South Carolina to go home to another state. The patient was released with appropriate isolation precautions
Another patient has been admitted to one of our hospitals and is in isolation in stable condition. This patient’s health is improving and has not required ICU-level care.
We have notified our employees who cared for both patients about these test results. They followed proper protocols while providing treatment, and they are not showing symptoms of the virus. We have taken appropriate precautions and continue to closely monitor their health and well-being.
The health and safety of our teammates, patients and the community remain our top priority.
We are being vigilant in deep cleaning all areas of our hospitals, including where these patients visited and were cared for, and we continue to take the necessary steps to deliver safe, exceptional care across our entire healthcare system.
We are cooperating with public health officials during their investigations to determine sources of transmission and any possible community exposure risks. We continue to encourage frequent hand washing, properly covering your cough, recognizing signs of illness, self-isolating at home, and social distancing in the community as best practices that must be followed as we each do our part to prevent the spread of this virus.
