Monday, June 29, 2020 - Roper St. Francis Healthcare donates $140,000 of unused medical equipment to rural Nicaragua
Roper St. Francis Healthcare is proud to again donate unused or outdated medical equipment and supplies to the nonprofit Partners 4 Global Health, which is filling and shipping a 40-foot container to rural Nicaragua during the next two weeks.

Through the leadership of Roper St. Francis Healthcare physician assistant and founder of Partners 4 Global Health Ali Swanson, Roper St. Francis Healthcare has an unofficial partnership with the rural Bluefields hospital to provide surgical, education and facility support as part of our global outreach efforts.

This is the second time since 2017 that Roper St. Francis Healthcare has donated a shipping container to the rural Nicaraguan hospital. The container filled Friday includes $140,000 worth of items such as isolettes, an ultrasound machine, exam tables, an X-ray machine and a surgical microscope that will enable surgeons to do procedures they haven’t previously done, such as ear tubes.

Special thanks to Atlantic Marine Warehouse Company for storing the items for free and to Susan Weick, a Roper St. Francis Healthcare teammate who spearheaded this project.
