Monday, March 2, 2020 - Roper St. Francis Healthcare wants UnitedHealthcare patients to receive in-network rates at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital

Roper St. Francis Healthcare remains in negotiations with UnitedHealthcare to add Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital as a participating hospital for the insurance company’s members.

We are committed to working in good faith to reach an agreement for UnitedHealthcare’s commercial (employer sponsored) and Medicare Advantage (Medicare replacement) products. A fair and long-term partnership with UnitedHealthcare is critical to serving our patients.

We began discussions with UnitedHealthcare in the summer of 2019 to allow ample time to reach an agreement. In this rapidly changing healthcare environment, we need fair contracts with insurance companies so that we can continue providing excellent care, serving our patients and operating in a sustainable way for years to come. We remain fully committed to constructive discussions to reach an agreement.

Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital opened in October 2019 and is the only Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospital that is not in network with UnitedHealthcare.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding not being able to access in-network benefits at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital is encouraged to call the customer service phone number on the back of their UnitedHealthcare health insurance card. We ask that they urge UnitedHealthcare to work with Roper St. Francis Healthcare to contract for in-network access at Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital.
