Davis and Stacie Marksbury

Davis and Stacie Marksbury made a transformational $2.5 million gift to the Roper St. Francis Foundation to support women, infants and children's health at Roper St. Francis Healthcare. In recognition of their significant generosity, the upcoming Level III NICU at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital will be named in their honor.

Today, the Level II nursery cares for babies born at 32 weeks or later. As the community continues to grow and more pregnancies become high-risk, the need for advanced neonatal care has increased. The new Level III NICU will allow caregivers to provide specialized treatment for critically ill and premature infants born as early as 28 weeks, while expanding capacity, equipment, and lifesaving interventions.

Supporting women’s and children’s care is deeply personal for the Marksburys. After the births of both of their children resulted in NICU and PICU stays, they experienced firsthand the critical importance of accessible, high-quality care. Those early days, filled with uncertainty, gratitude, and extraordinary medical support, shaped their commitment to making that level of care available to more families in the Lowcountry..

When their youngest child required life-saving medical transport to another hospital shortly after birth, they felt the strain that separation places on families during already fragile moments. They hope that the new Level III NICU will allow more parents and newborns to remain together, focusing on healing without the added burden of transfer and distance.

They were drawn to Roper St. Francis Healthcare because of its clear plan to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region. The commitment to expanding services aligned with their own desire to strengthen local facilities and elevate care for future generations.

“Our hope is to increase both the number of families served and the capabilities of Roper St. Francis Healthcare’s clinical teams for generations to come,” said Davis and Stacie. They believe that investing in women’s and children’s healthcare is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in the future of care in the Lowcountry.

“Davis and Stacie’s support is already shaping the future of women’s and children’s care at Roper St. Francis Healthcare and will touch thousands of families for years to come,” said Anthony Burchard, President of the Roper St. Francis Foundation. “We are so grateful for their partnership and support of our mission to heal all people with compassion, faith and excellence.”
