Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital has been honored as one of the 100 Great Hospitals in America by Becker’s Hospital Review. The list was compiled based on rankings and awards from numerous sources, such as U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades and Truven Health Analytics.
Roper St. Francis named Top 15 Health System by Truven Health Analytics
Roper St. Francis has been named a Top 15 Health System for the fourth consecutive year by Truven Health Analytics. The ratings evaluated publicly available government data on nine performance measures, including death rates, complications, 30-day readmissions and lengths of stay. The 2016 study analyzed 338 health systems and 2,912 hospitals that are members of health systems. Roper St. Francis is one of just nine hospitals or healthcare systems nationwide to have earned this honor for four years or longer.
BSSF and Roper clean up in Comparion CareChex quality awards – March 2016
Bon Secours St. Francis and Roper hospitals cleaned up in another round of quality awards. Both hospitals received the “highest” quality marks possible in seven categories in the 2015 Comparion’s CareChex Hospital Quality Ratings. In most of the categories, Roper and/or BSSF outscored the Medical University of South Carolina, East Cooper Medical Center and Trident Medical Center. BSSF scored the highest rating in the following CareChex categories: Overall Hospital Care, Medical Excellence, Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage and Major Bowel Procedures. Roper scored the highest rating in the following CareChex categories: Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care, Overall Surgical Care, Cancer Care, Cardiac Care, Gall Bladder Removal, Gastrointestinal Care, General Surgery, Hip Fracture Repair, Joint Replacement and Major Bowel Procedures.
RSF hospitals earn “A”s in Leapfrog Hospital Safety Score – March 2016
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper Hospital and RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital earned “A”s on the spring 2016 Hospital Safety Score from Leapfrog. RSF’s three hospitals were among 17 in South Carolina to do so, and the grades reflect the healthcare system’s commitment to patient safety, according to Leapfrog.
All three Roper St. Francis hospitals named Top 100 by Truven Health – March 2016
All three of Roper St. Francis’ flagship hospitals were named among the Top 100 Hospitals in the country for their overall performance, according to ratings released by Truven Health Analytics on Monday.
Roper St. Francis’ three hospitals were the only ones in South Carolina to earn spots on the coveted list this year. This marks the first time all three hospitals have made the Top 100 in the same year.
Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital was honored in the small hospital category, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was recognized in the medium community hospital category, and Roper Hospital was honored in the large hospital category.

Roper Hospital and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital each ranked No. 1 in South Carolina in different categories in a new Comparion CareChex Quality Rating system report. Roper Hospital ranked No. 1 in overall surgical care and overall hospital care. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital ranked No. 1 in spinal surgery. Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was sixth in overall surgical care and fifth in overall hospital care.
‘Best Of’ Berkeley County – February 2016
Roper St. Francis won “Best Hospital” in the Berkeley Independent’s annual Best of Berkeley County. Dr. Todd Vasko of Plantation Pediatrics took home first place in the pediatrician category. Dr. Amy Forren, a family medicine physician at Cane Bay Primary Care, won first place in the family physician category.
Roper Hospital named a Distinguished Hospital by Healthgrades – January 2016
Roper Hospital has been honored among the Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence. The award from Healthgrades recognizes hospitals in the top 5 percent in the nation with the lowest risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates across at least 21 of 32 common conditions and procedures.
