Roper Hospital named a Distinguished Hospital by Healthgrades
Roper Hospital has been honored among the Distinguished Hospitals for Clinical Excellence. The
award from Healthgrades recognizes hospitals in the top 5 percent in the nation with the lowest risk-
adjusted mortality and complication rates across at least 21 of 32 common conditions and

Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Magazine named “Best Hospital” in Mount Pleasant.

Modern Healthcare ranks RSF #4 of best large hospitals with low readmission rates – December 2015
RSF “established the Care Transitions Program, which helps elderly patients recognize symptoms of
health decline and assists them in managing their medications,” reported Modern Healthcare, a
70,037-circulation business publication targeting executives in the healthcare industry.

Becker’s Hospital Review – BSSF top 100 for neurosurgery, spine – December 2015
Becker’s Hospital Review has honored Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital among its top 100 hospitals and  
healthcare systems with great neurosurgery and spine programs.” Becker’s created this list by 
evaluating other national rankings and awards, such as U.S. News & World Report national and 
regional rankings for neurology and neurosurgery, CareChex rankings for neurological care, 
neurosurgery and spine surgery, BlueDistinction Center for Spine Surgery designation, Healthgrades 
awards for spine surgery, neurosurgery and stroke care and Magnet designation for nursing

The Joint Commission – Top Performer of Key Quality Measures – November 2015
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper Hospital were recognized by The Joint Commission as a top
performer on key quality measures for 2015.  Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital was commended 
specifically for its work in the following areas: pneumonia, surgical care, immunization and perinatal
care. Roper Hospital was commended specifically for its work in the following areas: heart attack, 
heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, VTE and immunization.

eHealthcare Leadership Awards - recognized – November 2015 was given the Silver Award in the Best Site Design category and the Award of Distinction in
the Best Overall Internet Site category during the Healthcare Internet Conference in Orlando, Fla.

American College of Surgeons – September 2015
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital has been recognized by the American College of Surgeons National 
Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP) as one of 52 ACS NSQIP participating hospitals that
have achieved meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care 

Magnet recognition from American Nurses Credentialing Center – Bon Secours St. Francis – August 2015
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital retained its magnet recognition with the American Nurses 
Credentialing Center. It is the second time the hospital has achieved the recognition. ANCC’s 
credentialing programs certify and recognize individual nurses in specialty practice areas and 
recognize health care organizations that promote nursing excellence and quality patient outcomes 
while providing safe, positive work environments, according to its website

U.S. News and World Report – Top Hospitals in SC – July 2015
Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital earned the No. 3 spot and Roper Hospital ranked No. 4 on U.S. News
and World Report’s list of the top hospitals in South Carolina

Roper St. Francis named in the list of Top 15 Health Systems in the small health systems category.
Roper Hospital named a Top 100 Hospital

Healthgrades’ 2015 Patient Safety Excellence Award – April 2015
Bon Secours St. Francis, Roper Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital earned the
Patient Safety Excellence Award and the Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Roper Hospital earned a 2015 Distinguished Hospital Award for clinical excellence
