CyberKnife for Lung Cancer
The addition of the state-of-the-art CyberKnife to Roper St. Francis has brought new hope to lung cancer patients with previously inoperable tumors. CyberKnife delivers precise high-dose radiation synchronized with patient movement, targeting the tumor throughout treatment and minimizing damage to surrounding tissues. In our first year using CyberKnife, Roper St. Francis radiosurgery team had a 90 percent success rate of complete tumor eradication with one course of three-day treatment dose and minimal effects to adjacent tissue.
