Mission Department

Roper St. Francis is the Lowcountry’s largest private, not-for-profit healthcare system. We are a mission-driven health system that strives to care for our diverse community and improve the health of those that we serve through a spirit of charity and giving back.

What we do

Our Mission Department takes the lead in advocating for and responding to our neighbors’ needs through three primary activities:

  • Demonstrating accountability for and impact of charitable contributions and staff resources through an annual Community Benefits Report (adhering to the Voluntary Hospital Association (VHA)/Catholic Health Association’s valuation methodology).
  • Conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Needs Assessment Implementation Plan
  • Overseeing a robust Community Benefits program, including corporate sponsorships, individual volunteer and system-wide outreach programs, and measuring the outcomes of these programs

Access to healthcare

Roper St. Francis provides uninsured patients a number of ways in which to access health care.

One way is through our financial assistance program.

If you are currently an inpatient without insurance, there are other options to assist you. A representative of the finance office will meet with you and/or your family to help you decide which choices might be the best for you.
