What are the treatment options for Heart Disease?

The Roper St. Francis Heart & Vascular Center offers non-invasive screenings and the latest technology to treat your heart disease.

Coronary Bypass Surgery

Coronary bypass surgery is performed to treat blocked areas in the arteries of the heart. The blocked portion of the coronary artery is bypassed with a piece of a healthy blood vessel from another part of your body. This allows blood to flow around the obstruction.

Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac catheterization is performed to further evaluate coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure and/or certain congenital heart conditions when other less invasive types of diagnostic tests indicate the presence of one of these conditions.

Electrophysiology

Electrophysiology (EP) tests are used to evaluate your heart's electrical system and to evaluate for abnormal heart rhythms. Surgical and non-surgical along with ablation and medical management therapies are available to treat and improve the heart rhythm.

Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology refers to procedures that are specific to treatments for structural heart diseases. The cardiologist has special training to work specifically with catheter-based treatments for structural heart diseases.

Valve Repair/Replacement

The repair or replacement of the aortic valve is performed to restore normal blood flow, reduce symptoms and help preserve the function of the heart muscle.
