Roper St. Francis Healthcare wins 2016 Excellence in Healthcare President’s Award
Roper St. Francis Healthcare has earned the 2016 Excellence in Healthcare President’s Award from Professional Research Consultants, Inc. for its extraordinary contribution to healthcare.
When Professional Research Consultants began measuring employee engagement for the organization in 2002, Roper St. Francis Healthcare received mid-range scores. By 2008, Roper St. Francis Healthcare had reached the top tier of the rankings — and stayed there year after year.
Over the last 14 years, 50 percent or more of the employees at Roper St. Francis Healthcare have rated it as an excellent place to work, with average scores in the 91st percentile.
This is the second time that the organization has earned the President’s Award. Roper St. Francis also was recognized with this honor in 2008. Past recipients include; Methodist Health System in Omaha, Nebraska; The Beryl Institute in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; The Studer Group in Gulf Breeze, Florida; Inova Health System in Falls Church, Virginia; and Parkview Health System in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
“PRC makes Roper St. Francis Healthcare a better health system,” said David Dunlap, Roper St. Francis Healthcare president and chief executive officer. “There was a time 20 or 30 years ago when people said you couldn’t measure quality, but that’s no longer the case.”
Dunlap said PRC provides performance metrics that Roper St. Francis Healthcare pushes out to units so they can see how they compare to their peers.
“If they’re not at the top of the rankings this week, they will be next week,” he said. “We’re very competitive and want to produce the best outcomes we can."
Dunlap said that PRC’s data serve as the framework for performance improvement.
“PRC makes us better prepared for the next patient. Together, we look at the numbers not as numbers, but as patients, as unique individuals with specific needs,” he said. “It’s all about the patients behind the numbers.”
Some Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals and Roper St. Francis Physician Partners won multiple additional awards from PRC including Awards of Distinction, Top Performer, 5 Star Awards and 4 Star Awards.
