Roper St. Francis Healthcare Named Top Hospital for Patient Care and Outcomes
Truven Analytics recognizes the nation’s top 15 health systems for patient care
Charleston, SC (March 7, 2014) – Roper St. Francis Healthcare is the only health system in South Carolina to be recognized by Truven Health Analytics as a 2013 Top Hospital for Patient Care and Outcomes. The 2013 Truven Health 15 Top Health Systems study identifies the 15 best health systems in the nation.
This year’s study contained more than 300 health systems and 2,200 member hospitals. The study examined publicly available data such as reported patient perception scores (HCAHPS) and objective statistical analysis developed and carried out by a well-rounded team of researchers that includes epidemiologists, statisticians, physicians, and former hospital executives.
Health systems named to the Top 15 outperformed their peers in a number of ways:
• Saved more lives and caused fewer patient complications
• Followed industry-recommended standards of care more closely
• Made fewer patient safety errors
• Released patients half a day sooner
• Scored better on overall patient satisfaction surveys
The top health systems have better survival rates and the top small systems had the highest HCAHPS scores.
