CHARLESTON COUNTY, SC - New technology will help grieving parents spend more time with their stillborn babies.

This special piece of medical equipment, known as a "cuddle cot" was donated to Roper Saint Francis hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Danielle and Jonah Barkley helped raise money to purchase and donate the cuddle cot for the labor and delivery department.

It was a very special moment for the couple. Tuesday would have been their little girl Lydia's first birthday. She was born stillborn at St. Francis last year.

"The gift of time is really I think the most important thing when you've lost your baby because you can hold your baby, sing to your baby, and make the most of those moments that you still have." said Danielle.

A cuddle cot looks very similar to a bassinet. The device keeps the babies at a colder temperature to keep the decomposition process from happening.

This gives the parents a little more time with their babies.
