Professional Practice Model

Our professional practice model is an illustration of how nurses at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital practice, collaborate, communicate, and develop professionally to provide the highest quality of care for our patients. The tree represents our roots, which form the foundation of our nursing practice, supporting attributes, and overarching outcomes- we are always reaching towards the best outcomes for our patients and nurses. 

  • Our practice is based on professional standards, and we encourage questions to continuously improve our work environment and the care that we provide for our patients.
  • We have adopted Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring as our theoretical framework for nursing practice.
  • Our nursing practice aligns with the overarching strategic goals of Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital and Roper St. Francis Healthcare through the five pillars of excellence- people, quality, growth, service, and finance.
  • We believe that it is the right and responsibility of a profession to self-regulate its practice. We provide this self-regulation through Shared Governance.
  • We are advocates for the holistic (physical, emotional, and spiritual) needs of our patients and their families.
