Continuing Medical Education

The Department of Continuing Medical Education (CME) is accredited by the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. All of our activities are planned and implemented in accordance with the essential areas, elements and policies of the MAG, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the American Medical Association (AMA).

Participating physicians receive credit towards the AMA's Physician's Recognition award. As a service to the medical staff members of Roper St. Francis Healthcare, the CME office tracks and reports CME credit hours to the MAG for physicians attending our conferences.

Department Mission

Roper St. Francis Healthcare CME Department participates in and carries out educational activities supportive of the institutional mission. The Mission of Roper St. Francis Healthcare is to Heal All People With Compassion, Faith, and Excellence. CME activities are developed to support this mission while providing educational activities for physicians and other allied health professionals. These activities will maintain, develop, and enhance the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships used to provide services for patients, the public and the health professionals.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare participates in the voluntary accreditation program of the Accreditation Council on Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG) CME committee, and strives to plan and implement educational activities in accordance with the essentials and guidelines set down by these organizations. CME accreditation by the MAG assures physicians and the public that the educational activities of Roper St. Francis Healthcare meet the high standards of continuing medical education.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare offers a variety of CME programs that include, but not limited to: regularly scheduled series, live and jointly sponsored courses, enduring and internet learning that address evidence-based, scientifically sound and free from commercial bias, updated information on common and/or evolving medical professional advancement. The CME programs are designed to improve performance, increase competence and provide improved patient outcomes with an interdisciplinary approach involving physicians and other allied health professional.

Disclosure Policy

As a continuing medical education provider, accredited by the Medical Association of Georgia, it is the policy of Roper St. Francis Healthcare to require all individuals in a position to influence educational content and development of a continuing medical education activity to disclose all relationships with commercial interests. This information is disclosed to all activity participants.
