Donor generosity allows the Foundation to support and provide the medical equipment, facilities, educational opportunities and even gardens that would not be possible without philanthropic support.
The four major projects the Foundation is currently raising funds for are:
Roper St. Francis is building a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Mount Pleasant that will open fall 2010. Our new hospital will meet the growing healthcare needs of people living and working East of the Cooper, while providing them a choice with the proven, quality care Lowcountry residents have trusted for over 150 years.
Philanthropy will play a critical role in the creation of the Mount Pleasant Hospital. For more specific information about ways to become involved, please contact the Foundation at (843) 720-1205.
Cardiac Rehabilitation and Wellness
To better provide for our cardiac rehabilitation and other patients at Roper Hospital, we are expanding and significantly renovating the existing facility. This project will be funded entirely by funds raised by the Foundation.
The renovations will include a 50% increase in square footage that will create space for the growing volume of new patients. New meeting spaces will be added and the existing convenient parking lot will be refreshed along with a new outside entrance.
Excellence in nursing is one of the hallmarks that makes Roper St. Francis Healthcare the Lowcountry’s leader in patient satisfaction. Because well-trained, compassionate nurses are vital to the health of our patients and to the work of our doctors and staff, Roper St. Francis is proud to offer a Nursing Scholarship Program to support those pursuing a career in nursing, as well as those pursuing an advanced nursing degree. The scholarship program, funded by the Roper St. Francis Foundation, is open to anyone entering the profession who has been accepted to nursing school, as well as to any current Roper St. Francis employee.
Roper St. Francis Cancer Center
A new outpatient cancer center is being planned for the Bon Secours St. Francis campus. Unified treatment, convenience, highly-trained doctors and access to up-to-the-minute technology will combine to create earlier detection and less invasive elimination of tumors. The Center’s unique design will offer easy access to specialists, a shop catering to the unique needs of cancer patients, a resource library and comfortable, patient-focused spaces.
At Roper Hospital, capital improvements to the cancer treatment area and the radiation therapy technology will her create the most patient-friendly facility we can provide. Philanthropy will be important to ensuring spaces are cohesive and convenient and that patients have access to a wide variety of services in a unified space.
